Dr. Edmund Kyei Akoto-Danso is the Operations Manager of the ESRF Project. He previously worked with the Ghana Agricultural Sector Investment Programme as the Climate Change Adaptation Manager. Edmund has a deep understanding of gender, environment, and social dimensions of climate change impacts, as well as best practices and strategies that minimize such impacts on vulnerable groups and communities. Dr. Akoto-Danso has a vast agronomic knowledge of major crops and cropping systems of Sub-Saharan Africa, with over ten years of experience in applied research for development, stakeholder facilitation and project management. He has an outstanding training and consulting skills to appropriately assess and diagnose capacity-building needs, and also develop and implement actions to address identified needs.
Edmund holds a PhD in Agricultural Sciences (Dr. agr.) from the University of Kassel, Germany; an MPhil in Environmental Science, and a BSc in Natural Resources Management. He has over ten years of experience in active applied research for development in urban and rural agriculture with theoretical and practical expertise in crops, soil and water quality assessment and management as well as system modeling. His PhD research focused on (i) nutrient fluxes in urban vegetable production and (ii) virtual water fluxes in food trade along selected West African cities.
Prior to his PhD, Edmund have had a good exposure, and working experience as a researcher with the International Water Management Institute in charge of project administration, coordination and engagement with project stakeholders. He was much involved in assessing environmental contamination, urban water balance modeling under varying scenarios, stakeholder facilitation around climate change and agricultural water management.
Dr. Akoto-Danso is an excellent team player and has worked successfully with both national and international partners as well as stakeholders from the public sector in different countries. He also has a very good analytical and writing skill and has published a number of manuscripts in high-impact factor journals.
