Partnerships

ESRF was designed to be implemented in close collaboration with various partners comprising local, national and international partners. Most of these partners including government and UN agencies (WFP and FAO) are involved in project implementation.

Government partners:
The Animal Production Directorate (APD); Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA), Department of Feeder Roads (DFR) are part partners and part service providers. ESRF only provided funds to cover operating costs to supervise their activities. The agencies involved provided human resources to supervise the project activities allocated to them.
The Regional and District Departments of Agriculture have also been part of the Project, by taking on monitoring and supervisory roles, and provision of technical backstopping to project beneficiaries.

World Food Programme (WFP):
ESRF signed an agreement with WFP to implement interventions related to five activities: (i) cash transfer to vulnerable households; (ii) training, capacity building and provision of processing equipment; (iii) digital financial inclusion; (iv) monitoring local markets to undertake surveillance of input, food, grocery and output market prices; and (v) develop FBO capacity in digital marketing.

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO):
The FAO provides support in ICT-driven extension services which leverages radio and television broadcasts, mobile messaging and online content development as a strategy to continue with extension services in the post-pandemic environment. ESRF has signed an agreement with FAO to resource the 16 regional hubs, developed content related to e-extension, engaged Farm Radio International and local radio stations to broadcast messages, organised farmers' call-in programmes and developed extension messages based on the challenges faced by the farmers.

Animal Production Directorate (APD):
MoFA’s APD and the Veterinary Services Directorate (VSD) supported ESRF in providing support to women and youth with poultry production by providing technical backstopping to beneficiary district of the poultry intervention.

Ghana Irrigation Development Authority (GIDA):
GIDA designed and supervised the 2 no. 100 Ha Water Harvesting Schemes at Klenormadi and Tordzinu and the 16 No. Drying Platforms.

Department of Feeder Roads:
This Department supervised the construction of feeder roads. It developed appropriate designs and bills of quantities, assessed the technical feasibility of feeder road construction and supervised construction including payment authorization.
